It covers an area of \u200b\u200b384 square kilometres and consists of 11 settlements: In\u0111ija, Be\u0161ka, Novi Slankamen, Novi Karlovci, Kr\u010dedin, \u010cortanovci, Maradik, Ljukovo, Stari Slankamen, Jarkovci and Slankamena\u010dki Vinogradi. About 43,700 people of different nationalities live here today.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-2932 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/indjijatravel.rs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/OU-e1590492075996.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1000\" height=\"640\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The relief of the municipality is characterized by the slopes of Fru\u0161ka Gora, which stretch to the northern part of the territory and the fertile plain in the southern part. The climate of the entire region is temperate-continental. The coldest month is January with an average temperature of -1\u00b0C, and the warmest are July and August with an average temperature of 22\u00b0C.<\/p>\n<p>Numerous cultural and historical monuments, from prehistory to recent times, testify to the turbulent past of this area. Although the population of the municipality dates back to prehistory, the first written records about the settlement of In\u0111ija date back to the middle of the 15<sup>th <\/sup>century. The remains of Roman and medieval fortifications and the Monument of the Battle of Slankamen speak of the strategic importance of this area along the <a href=\"https:\/\/indjijatravel.rs\/eng\/nature-the-danube-river\/\"><u>Danube<\/u><\/a>, which has historically represented the border of different empires.<\/p>\n<p>Today, <a href=\"http:\/\/indjija.rs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><u>the Municipality of In\u0111ija<\/u><\/a> is one of the most developed municipalities in Serbia.
