Fru\u0161ka Gora<\/h5>\n\n\n\n

Fru\u0161ka Gora is one of the most recognizable elements of the tourist offer of Vojvodina. It abounds in natural and cultural-historical tourist sites. A part of the territory of the municipality of In\u0111ija is located on the south-eastern slopes of this mountain, which provides good conditions for the development of agriculture and tourism. In the village of \u010cortanovci<\/a>, there is the only part of the Fru\u0161ka Gora National Park that faces the Danube. The area of \u200b\u200bMihaljeva\u010dka forest and the famous picnic area Kozarica provide a real pleasure of staying in the nature and the possibility of various types of recreation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

FRU\u0160KA GORA NATIONAL PARK<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fru\u0161ka Gora National Park was established in 1960 on an area of \u200b\u200b25,393 ha. It is located on the southern edge of the Pannonian Plain, along the right bank of the Danube. The protected area occupies the highest ridge parts of the mountain massif of Fru\u0161ka Gora, with the highest peak of 539 m above sea level. Fru\u0161ka Gora is 78 km long and 15 km wide. It is spatially located in the municipalities of Petrovaradin, Sremski Karlovci, Beo\u010din, Ba\u010dka Palanka, Irig, In\u0111ija, \u0160id and Sremska Mitrovica and occupies the northern part of Srem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the geological sense, Fru\u0161ka Gora is a unique natural phenomenon. It is built of rocks from almost all geological periods, starting from the oldest Palaeozoic (500 million years ago), through the Mesozoic, Neogene to the Quaternary. On its peripheral part, primarily loess sections and riverbeds of streams reveal the rich fossil fauna of the former Pannonian Sea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fru\u0161ka Gora National Park is covered with forests, in an area of \u200b\u200b90%. There are mostly linden, oak and beech forests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The flora of Fru\u0161ka Gora consists of about 1,500 plant species. Of this number, 40 species have the status of strictly protected species. Of the 13 species of amphibians and 11 species of reptiles, 14 species are on the World\u2019s Red List of Endangered Species. The most endangered species are the common viper and the fire salamander. The bird fauna includes 211 species, of which about 130 species nest on Fru\u0161ka Gora. Among the nesting birds of Fru\u0161ka Gora, the eastern imperial eagle stands out, which is the most endangered species from the World\u2019s Red List. Fru\u0161ka Gora is the only place in Serbia where the species nests. The mammal fauna of Fru\u0161ka Gora consists of about 60 species. Among them are the European ground squirrel, the lesser blind mole-rat, the protected group of bats, the wild cat and other species.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to natural sites, the Fru\u0161ka Gora National Park has a rich cultural and historical heritage: numerous archaeological sites from the Neolithic through the Roman era to the Middle Ages, important architectural monuments and Orthodox monasteries dating from the 15th<\/sup> to 18th<\/sup> centuries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
